Releases

Every version, kept.

Each release is a Developer ID-signed, notarized build with its own notes and checksum. Older versions stay downloadable. A fix is always a new version, never a quiet replacement of an old one.

Automatic updates use the same list. Frisket reads appcast.xml, an ordinary RSS feed in the format the Sparkle updater uses. Subscribe to it in any feed reader if you would rather watch for releases yourself.

Update checks are off until you consent, and every entry in that feed is signed with a key that is not held by the download host. More on updates.

Verifying a download

Each row above carries the SHA-256 of that version's archive. To check a download yourself, run shasum -a 256 Frisket-<version>.zip in Terminal and compare. It is belt-and-braces: macOS checks Apple's notarization ticket and our Developer ID signature at every launch, and the updater checks a second, independent signature before it installs anything.

Version numbering

Frisket uses semantic versioning: the marketing version you see (for example 4.0.0) and a monotonically increasing build number. The updater compares build numbers, so it never offers you something older than what you already have.
