Setup guide

Set up Frisket in about a minute.

Where to put the app, the shortcuts to try first, and the trial. Nothing here is required to try Frisket: the palette, clipboard history, overlays, timers and panels all work without granting a thing.

1. Install it in the right place

  1. Unzip the download. Safari usually does this for you.
  2. Drag Frisket.app into Applications in Finder, before you open it the first time. Launching from Downloads breaks permissions and updates. Why, and the fix.
  3. Open it from Applications. There is no Dock icon: Frisket lives in the menu bar at the top right.

2. What the first run looks like

The clover appears in your menu bar, the app is immediately usable, and a short welcome guide opens. It never blocks anything, and every step has Skip.

Step one of Frisket's first-run guide: Welcome to Frisket, with the promise that your data stays yours.

3. The main moves

Five shortcuts cover most of what you will do. These are the defaults, all of them changeable in Settings, and none of them needs a macOS permission.

ShortcutWhat it does
⌃⌥⌘ P Command palette. One fuzzy field for every Frisket command and your installed apps; it also answers arithmetic, percentages, unit conversions and color codes inline.
⌃⌥ C Clipboard history. Search everything you have copied, filter by type, pin what you keep, and paste an older clip with Return.
⌃⌥⌘ Space Cheat-sheet overlay. A translucent keyboard reference for whatever app is in front of you.
⌃⌥⌘ T Type clipboard. Types the clipboard into the focused field with human-like cadence — for remote desktops, VMs and consoles where paste does not work. Any real keypress or click stops it instantly.
⌃⌥⌘ J Focus timers. Countdown timers, Pomodoro cycles and guided breaks, with the running timer visible in the menu bar.

The full list is in the app: menu bar → Frisket shortcuts.

4. Permissions

Nothing is required to try Frisket. macOS gates a few abilities behind permissions you grant in System Settings, and Frisket asks for one only when you first use a feature that needs it, never at launch.

Typing on your behalf and pasting back into the app you came from need Accessibility. Everything else in the list above works without it. What each permission unlocks, and how to revoke one.

Frisket stands down completely while macOS reports secure input, which is what a password field does: it does not observe, record, or type.

5. Your trial

Fourteen days, every feature, no account and no card. It starts on its own the first time you open the app. When it ends, Frisket keeps working with the core toolset. Nothing is deleted and nothing locks up.
